Common-mode choke claims smallest footprint

Article By : TDK

The ACT1210L is 50% smaller than TDK's existing ACT45L choke.

TDK Corp. has released the ACT1210L common-mode choke for automotive Ethernet applications. Series production of the device starts in June 2017.

The ACT1210L 3.2mm x 2.5mm x 2.5mm, making it half the size of TDK's existing ACT45L choke which measures 4.5mm x 3.2mm x 2.8mm. The device is qualified to AEC-Q200 and has an excellent Scd21 mode conversion characteristic that is equivalent to that of the existing ACT45L, TDK noted. TDK also added that due to the special connection technology of the windings of the ACT1210L, it is suitable for a wide temperature range from -40°C to 125°C.

Typical applications for these Ethernet common-mode chokes are on-board cameras that can be further miniaturised and designed for even higher operating temperatures.
